Our Mission

Secure a sustainable future for SPK Academy to share the knowledge of Indian Classical Music worldwide through the teachings of the seventh-generation sitar maestro, Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan (Ustadji).

Our Goals

 1. Share Indian Classical Music through sitar teaching and performance

• Combine tradition and technology to increase access to Ustadji’s music.

• Host world-class music camps to engage new and experienced students.

• Develop student support networks within SPK community.

• Provide platforms for student performances.

• Create The SPK Studio for state-of-the-art audio and video recording.

• Create The SPK Archive - a digital archive of Ustadji’s music, teaching techniques, and musical inspirations. 

     

 2. Work to increase the visibility of Indian classical music worldwide

• Develop ties to established World Music artists, audiences, and institutions.

• Support travel and virtual access for international student performances.

• Integrate communications across a wide variety of media.

3. Create learning opportunities for deserving students

• Create the SPK Student Equity Program to alleviate financial constraints to learning music.

• Host music workshops globally.

• Establish a teaching hub in India.

• Inspire a new generation of young musicians through a school outreach program.
